Colosseum is one of the most famous ancient monuments in the world and the greatest surviving symbol of the Roman Empire.

History

• Built: Between 72–80 AD during the reigns of emperors Vespasian and Titus.
• Original name: Flavian Amphitheatre.
• Purpose: A massive arena for public spectacles, including gladiator battles, animal hunts, executions, and large public events.
• Capacity: Estimated between 50,000–80,000 spectators.
